Hongura - Kyoho Era Sake Brewing -

The gentle feeling of buildings that have endured the passage of the years

Hongura This is a sake cellar from a sake brewery named "Kikuya," a structure from the late Edo Period that was located in front of what is now the Nara Station on the Kintetsu Railway. It is said to have been known as "the famine storehouse" due to being used as a storehouse for provision in times of food shortage. It was moved to its current location in 1967, and the task of its dismantling, transport, and reconstruction was such that its story is still told today. Many people visit in order to see the method in which it was constructed, and as such it is said to be a valuable cultural asset.
It can be used for banquets of up to 80 people.

本倉見取り図 The first floor serves as a lobby / exhibition area.
